Reflections
It’s already the third workshop we have had and it is again full of new information that is very helpful. During the first workshop, we studied how to write and use an elevator pitch. It was a new and interesting task. We used to have very long presentations to attract attention. However, in real life in many cases we have not more than 30 seconds to present ourselves or sell a product. The second workshop showed us how to create a personal profile for “Meet the Team” descriptions. That was quite a touch task because it is a bit weird to write an article about yourself in an interesting way. But I think I managed it. So does Ani.
Today we were working on creating a list of questions for our interviews that we are going to prepare for the English for Journalists website. We were surprised a lot when Ani found many mistakes in our questions. The positive thing is that now we know how to write questions correctly.

The English workshops are very interesting for me because it is the first workshop that I have ever taken part in. I have learned many new things — vocabulary, how to introduce yourself, how to write a Meet the Team profile which is important for every person who works behind the scenes at any company, like an employee profile. Also making grammatical questions for interviewing was very interesting for me. I learned many ways to suggest questions to the person that I want to interview. It’s also interesting because I am learning English with a native speaker and so my listening is getting better.

The process of the workshop is very amazing. From the course, I learned how to talk with foreign people, how to write different texts and make grammatical sentences. I enjoy it when the teacher corrects my mistakes. Also, listening to a native speaker helps me learn quickly and correct my pronunciation. During the three lessons, the most interesting topic was how to introduce yourself or your job so that you will be unforgettable. During the three lessons I also learned new interesting methods of teaching which are more beneficial to improving my English.

6 classes! 6 very interesting classes of English for Journalists I have attended during the last two weeks. After several not successful experiences of learning English with a native speaker, I would not think that I will fall in love with this process with Ani Hawkinson. The way she teaches deserves for the attention. It is not the conventional way, of course. You will not get everyday’s exercise from a book, but you will be taught how to collect a portfolio for yourself, how to use “several drafts” technique and how to write an accurate paragraph. Moreover, her way of speaking and her pronunciation is just perfect for my listening practice. Thank you, Ani, for your interesting class!

I wanted to say thank you for your class and work. It is becoming more and more interesting. I personally want to say that every lesson I am getting something new, it can be an addition to my vocabulary or a new technique for journalists. I am still working as a writing journalist and I found the new technique you shared very interesting. I am talking about using several drafts for an article. Though it takes much time and it is very difficult for me to find time to do it, I promise that I will try to learn this technique.
Waiting for our next class!
